Espen Technology’s Emergency LED Driver operates Espen Flex and Flex DE Type B LED T5 and T8 lamps. During a power outage, the VEMB20W provides up to 20W of power to the lamp, allowing the same fixture to be used in both normal and emergency mode. Until recently, emergency driver solutions were readily available for Type A and Type C TLED solutions, but not Type B LED solutions. Type B was another case due to the challenging nature of AC lamp input requirements compared to DC. Since Type B TLEDs have an internal driver and are wired directly to line voltage, these lamps do not require a fluorescent ballast to convert line voltage to DC current. With no external ballast available to wire to, an auxiliary power supply, such as a generator or inverter, was the only option to provide emergency line power. Espen’s VEMB20W overcomes this challenge. At 20W, this emergency driver illuminates most TLEDs at full brightness. The emergency driver test lead allows the user further peace of mind to ensure the driver is installed and operating correctly.
