The difference between R, BR and PAR

The R in all three stands for "Reflector". The R-Shaped reflectors are known for producing a light with very soft edges. These bulbs produce more diffuse shadows and are only usually found indoors. BR stands for "Bulged Reflector", and are very similar to R shaped bulbs in many ways, but they have a more "bulged" design that reflects more light, making them more energy efficient and increasing the watt to lumen ratio. PAR stands for Parabolic Aluminized Relfectors, and these are usually found in both indoor and outdoor fixtures. PAR-shaped bulbs offer a much harder edged light which is much more precise and directional.
